Southwest Airlines has been running a promotion in which – you guessed it – there is no charge to passengers for checking their bags; it seems like distributing promotional bags may benefit Southwest in getting the message out about this campaign to people who have overlooked their clever online and print marketing efforts. So far, Southwest says their current strategy is working and they have seen revenues increase by about $800 million annually, so I wonder what would happen if they were to pass out complimentary promotional bags to passengers on their flights and at airport terminals… The obvious connection between the giveaways and the campaign slogan would enlighten uninformed potential customers of the promotion, and they could tote their Southwest Airlines promotional bags wherever they go to further spread the word about this advantageous offer.
